How to use Answer the Cry: Faces of Hope
Answer the Cry: Faces of Hope is a 35-minute program that can either be watched in one segment or all together. The program has three sections, each approximately ten minutes in length. These sections are linked by common threads, but can be watched and discussed independently of each other.
Section 1:
- Lydia's Story: Lydia lived in a Chinese orphanage until she was eight. Fifteen years after being adopted, she returned to the place she once called home, but this time to serve.
- Tiffany's Story: Tiffany's story begins tragically: forced to care for her siblings at a young age, the unexpected death of her baby sister due to her mom's neglect, a family ripped apart - but tragedy yielded to God's grace and provision.
Section 2:
- Mat & Elizabeth's Story: Mat and Elizabeth were just an ordinary, young couple. Follow their extraordinary journey of faith as they love and adopt Ben, an infant with a terminal heart condition.
- The McKelvys' Story: Pastor Ray McKelvy struggled with the call to adopt. See how God changed his heart.
Section 3:
- Sarah & Caroline's Story: Sarah and Caroline, two high school students, were changed forever after spending a week serving orphans. See how God used them to rally hundreds of other students to serve the least of these.
- Dr. Sharen Ford's Story: Dr. Ford is the Manager of Child Permanency for the State of Colorado. When one church helped start a movement to reduce the number of Colorado kids awaiting adoption, even those working for the state of Colorado were amazed at what happened.
There are many ways you can use Answer the Cry: Faces of Hope and it's accompanying materials to help others see and face the needs of orphans here and abroad. We suggest that you:
- Watch and discuss each section with your family or members of your small group or Bible study and make a commitment to take action on behalf of orphans. A free PDF discussion guide is available as well. It contains questions that will help you begin to better understand the issues raised in the stories and talk about ways you and others can meet the needs of orphans and waiting children.
- Use the two-minute trailer to promote your event. The trailer can be downloaded, embedded, linked to, or burned onto a DVD or CD. Among ways you can share the trailer with others: show it in your church to promote an Orphan Sunday event, post it on your Facebook page or e-mail the link to your friends.
